Hey all – Steve here. We were just begging for football to be back, right? Well, now it is playoff time! It’s Wild Card Weekend which is when the best teams are playing and the best of the best teams are relaxing for a week before their playoffs begin. Let’s get to it and then we will get into the picks for the weekend!
The first game of the weekend pits division rivals against each-other as the Colts head to Houston to face the Texans. Only one game separated these two teams during the regular season. Neither of these two teams got off to good starts as the Colts began the season 1-5 including losses to lowly Cincy and the Jets. The Texans began the season 0-3 including a loss to the lowly Giants (yes, my team was lowly for the 2nd straight season). Since their respective starts, each team has been on fire and Andrew Luck has been playing at an unbelievable clip.
Colts 28 Texans 23
These two teams are relatively evenly matched. Zeke is clearly the best playing in this match-up from either team, but I am taking experience over skill in this one. Dak has not proven that he can win a playoff game yet and Russell Wilson is Mr. Clutch and had another great year behind an awful offensive line (which improved later on in the season).
Seahawks 28 Cowboys 21
The Chargers finally came out of the gates sizzling in 2018 and really didn’t look back finishing 12-4 and missing a first round bye due to tiebreaker rules. The Ravens have been solid and consistent all season and absolutely deserved to win the division over the Steelers this season. I’m sure nobody was happier about that than Le’Veon Bell. The Chargers were 7-1 on the road and the Ravens were 6-2 at home, but somethings gotta give! Again, I am going experience over everything else here with Rivers over a very exciting and confident Lamar Jackson.
Chargers 27 Ravens 24
The Eagles snuck through the backdoor of the playoffs a year after winning it all and the Bears shocked everyone by basically running away with their division. With Carson Wentz out, the Eagles turn to Nick Foles who took the team on a magical ride through the playoffs on their way to a Super Bowl Championship last year after Wentz tore his ACL. The Bears gave up the least amount of points this season with Khalil Mack leading the new Monsters of Midway and the Eagles just don’t seem to be the same team as last year. Never count out the Champs, but I am doing just that this time around.
Bears 26 Eagles 17
That’s a wrap for Wild Card Weekend in the NFL Playoffs! Now let’s take a look at how everyone did for the regular season and the staff picks for this week!
