We are doing the Top 10 movies of 2007. We are throwing it back ten years to a time that was actually very different for movies than today. So, we have all made our lists, and here is our consensus Top 10 of 2007.

10. 3:10 to Yuma

The first movie on our list is a remake of a classic western movie. Directed by James Mangold, 3:10 to Yuma is a great story about outlaws and ranchers in the old west who are at odds with each other. Mangold today directed Logan and the influence of the western is clearly showed here. Russell Crowe and Christian Bale give great performances, and contribute to a terrific remake.

9. I Am Legend

The next movie on our list is one of Will Smith’s most beloved movies. I Am Legend is a great story of a man who is the last survivor in New York City after an outbreak kills most of the population and turns others into zombies. Will Smith is very sympathetic here and has a great relationship with his dog that is also heartbreaking. This is one of Will Smith’s most underrated movies.

8. Knocked Up

At number eight we have one of the better comedies of the 2000’s. Knocked Up is a hilarious story of an average man who has a one-night stand with a girl he likes, and ends up getting her pregnant. This is director Judd Apatow’s second directed film, and makes a hilarious movie. There are so many faces here that are now famous including Seth Rogen, Leslie Mann, Jonah Hill, and Paul Rudd. It is a truly great comedy.

7. Superbad

Our number seven movie on this list is also a comedy, and one of the greatest comedies of all time. Superbad is the story about three high school nerds who finally get invited o a party and want to get laid. There are so many star making performances here including Jonah Hill, Michael Cera, Emma Stone, Bill Hader, and again, Seth Rogen. So many lines here are still quoted today, and the modern comedies still take influence from this movie.

6. Juno

Now we get to the movie that is one of the most critically acclaimed movies of the year. Juno is another 2007 story about a woman who gets pregnant, and makes an unusual decision with what to do with her child. Ellen Page is the star here, and really establishes herself as a strong actress. Michael Cera again appears here and has a great relationship with page. It is a really heartwarming movie.

5. Gone Baby Gone

Our fist entry into the top five is a Boston story by the name of Gone Baby Gone. This is the story of two Boston detectives who investigate a little girl’s kidnapping, and the case turns into a crisis both professionally and personally. Ben Affleck directs his first film here, and starts a directing career that is one of the best today. All the performances are great here, and the movie is terrific as well.

4. There Will Be Blood

At number four we have a haunting movie by acclaimed director Paul Thomas Anderson. This is the story of an oil prospector at the beginning of his career, and his journey towards success. Daniel-Day Lewis gives one of his best performances here and maybe one of the greatest of all time. He loses himself in this character, and contributes to an amazing experience. This is a terrific movie.

3. American Gangster

The next movie on our list is Ridley Scott’s American Gangster. The story about a detective in 1970’s America who is trying to bring down a heroin kingpin selling drugs in the far east. Russell Crowe and Denzel Washington give great back and forth performances here, and contribute to one of Ridley Scott’s best films.

2. Zodiac

Our penultimate film on this list is one of director David Fincher’s best. Zodiac is the story about the zodiac serial killer and the people who are obsessed with bringing him down. We get great acting here from Jake Gyllenhaal, Mark Ruffalo, and Robert Downey Jr., and they contribute to a great overall film. David Fincher cements here why he is one of the best directors, and this film is only one of the many great films on his resume.

1. No Country for Old Men

Our number one movie of 2007 is the Coen brother’s best work ever, No Country for Old Men. The story about a hunter who stumbles upon a drug deal gone wrong, and his struggle to survive when he becomes the hunted one. Javier Bardem is haunting here as Anton Chigurh and is one of the greatest villains of all time. We also get expected great performances from Josh Brolin, Woody Harrelson, and Tommy Lee Jones. Once again, this is the Coen’s best work and this movie won best picture of 2007 to prove it.

So, there you have it, the Top 10 Movies of 2007. This was a great year for movies, and one of the best years for directors. Paul Thomas Anderson, David Fincher, Ridley Scott, Ben Affleck, and the Coen brothers all staked their claim here, and contributed to a great year in film.
