David Presents: Raw vs. Smackdown Week of 8/27/18

Hell in a Cell is three weeks away, and WWE has taken this week to set up the pay per view. And it’s turning out to be a loaded card.

Monday Night Raw-Toronto, Ontario

For the second week in a row Universal Champion, Roman Reigns, was greeted by mixed reactions from the crowd. He was shortly met by Braun Strowman, who teased Reigns about having to have The Shield save him last week and would probably do the same if he tried to cash in tonight.

Strowman then made an agreement with Reigns that he wouldn’t cash in until September 16th at “Hell in a Cell.” Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre then appeared, where they said they needed a new challenge and were looking at Reigns and Strowman to make a statement.

Acting general manager, Baron Corbin, interrupted them and made the match official for tonight.

Baron Corbin vs. Finn Balor

Corbin made this match immediately after the start of Raw and actually looked great in the ring. This was the best match these two have had together.

Match Result: Baron Corbin defeated Finn Balor by pinfall.

Sasha Banks vs. Dana Brooke

It might be the second match Brooke has had in nine months, but this is the best she’s ever looked. Short, but entertaining match.

Match Result: Sasha Banks defeated Dana Brooke by submission.

Seth Rollins (C) vs. Kevin Owens for the Intercontinental Championship

Owens answered Rollins’ open challenge and redeemed himself of a poor outing at “Summerslam.” What’s next for Owens is up in the air, but this match proved he should be in a title picture.

Match Result: Seth Rollins defeated Kevin Owens by pinfall.

After the match, Kevin Owens stayed in the ring, grabbed a microphone, said he quit, and left the arena. Not sure what this was, hopefully it’s a vacation for Owens, but when he comes back he needs to make an impact.

The B-Team vs. The Revival

Another redemption match for these two teams and a nice promo by the Revival after the match. Hopefully this is nearing the end of the B-Team.

Match Result: The Revival defeated The B-Team by pinfall.

Elias came out to perform but was interrupted by Toronto’s own Trish Stratus. The two roasted each other and Stratus slapped Elias out of the ring.

Dolph Ziggler & Drew McIntyre vs. Roman Reigns & Braun Strowman

The match was highly entertaining with a great twist at the end. Strowman turned on his partner Reigns and aligned himself with Ziggler & McIntyre. The trio then proceeded to demolish Ambrose and Rollins, who came to the aid of Reigns.

Match Result: Roman Reigns & Braun Strowman defeated Dolph Ziggler & Drew McIntyre by disqualification.

Smackdown Live – Toronto, Ontario

The 5-time tag team champions, New Day, kicked off the show with a ceremony to celebrate their reign. They were then joined by King Booker, who welcomed them to the 5-time champions club, and each performed their own version of the spin-a-roonie.

The Bar vs. The Colons vs. Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows

The completely forgotten Colons were still under contract apparently yet it was nice seeing them back. Safe to say the tag team division is just stacked on Smackdown now.

Match Result: The Bar defeated The Colons & Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows by pinfall.

Jeff Hardy came to the ring and called out Randy Orton to finish what he started last week. Orton said he was going to leave Hardy broken in the middle of that ring and take everything away from him. As Hardy stopped Orton he professed he was going to take him to hell inside “Hell in a Cell.” A shocked Orton dropped the microphone and walked to the back.

Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella addressed their actions from last week against the Miz and Maryse. They were interrupted by Andrade “Cien” Almas and Zelina Vega, who challenged Bryan to a match.

Daniel Bryan vs. Andrade “Cien” Almas (Watch It)

What a match! If there’s only one match you watch it needs to be this one. Cien is the future. Him and Bryan put on the match of night and week. A rematch needs to happen. Make sure to watch this match.

Match Result: Daniel Bryan defeated Andrade “Cien” Almas by disqualification.

AJ Styles came out to the ring and said Samoa Joe wasn’t a man and called him out so that he could kick his teeth down his throat. Joe appeared on the screen and called Styles wife. This enraged Styles, who fled the ring looking for Joe. This continues to get more and more uncomfortable with the weeks.

Carmella vs. Charlotte Flair (C) for the Smackdown Women’s Championship (Watch It)

Mella was money tonight. Carmella put on her best performance to date against Flair. She might not get another opportunity at the championship for a while, but she proved she belongs tonight.

Match Result: Charlotte Flair defeated Carmella by submission.

At the end of the match Becky Lynch attacked Flair from behind and said she’s getting her title back at Hell in a Cell. The fire is burning strong in Lynch, and the WWE Universe is all in.
