David Returns To Give Us His WWE Fastlane Predictions

Like The Undertaker, I’ve made my return to CineSportsTalk right in time for Wrestlemania. And after Fastlane we will have a much clearer picture of what to expect at the show of shows.

Becky Lynch & Naomi vs. Natalya & Carmella

Smackdown Live is the land of opportunity, and is why this match is even on the card in the first place. Besides facing each other a few times on Smackdown and a couple backstage segments there is literally no storyline here. I’d much prefer this spot going to Breezango or trying to build up The Bludgeon Brothers, but I can understand Smackdown trying to combat Raw’s resurgence in the Women’s division.

Prediction: Becky Lynch & Naomi defeat Natalya & Carmella

Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Rusev

This match should be a nice treat for the WWE Universe, but unfortunate for Rusev. He continues to be overlooked. If the Jinder Mahal experiment would have been with Rusev instead the fans wouldn’t have completely turned or hated the idea. Rusev would have been the ideal heel. Then you have the fact that somehow Rusev, the man with one of the best selling t-shirts right now, isn’t in the six-pack challenge for the WWE Championship. Giving him a match with Nakamura is fantastic, but he deserves more. Hopefully the rest of the year becomes Rusev’s year.

Prediction: Shinsuke Nakamura defeats Rusev

Charlotte Flair (c) vs. Ruby Riott for the Smackdown Women’s Championship

Charlotte has been unstoppable since winning the Smackdown Women’s Championship, and the Riott Squad has been right on her heel of dominance. Although I think the Riott Squad has been doing a great job, they’ve become a little lackluster as of late. The Women’s division is suffering from not having enough superstars to compete against. What makes faction work so great is taking down different superstars each week or competing against other factions. The Riott Squad have faced the same women for weeks now. And as great as they’ve been it has gotten repetitive. Not sure where this feud goes from here, but creative has a puzzle on their hands.

Prediction: Charlotte Flair defeats Ruby Riott to retain the Smackdown Women’s Championship

The Usos (c) vs. The New Day for the Smackdown Tag Team Championship

When Big E. said that The Usos have been The New Day’s biggest rival he couldn’t have spat out anything more true. These teams have put on some show stealing matches. I watched their bouts at Summerslam and Night of Champions live and they tore the house down. Both matches were clear contenders for match of the night. This one being right before Wrestlemania will probably be no different. The only uncertainty coming from this match is that the loser will most likely be left off the Wrestlemania card or thrown into the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.

Prediction: The Usos defeat The New Day to retain the Smackdown Tag Team Championship

Bobby Roode (c) vs. Randy Orton for the United States Championship

There’s nothing more GLORIOUS than how this storyline can possibly turn out. There are so many twists and turns this can take that any of them wouldn’t disappoint. First we have Orton doing the J.O.B. for Bobby which would solidify Roode’s reign and give him a creditable victory. Then there’s the opportunity of Orton claiming the US title for the first time in his career. And finally we have the chance of Jinder Mahal playing some role in this match, especially after his victory against Orton this past week, and maybe prolonging the feud into Wrestlemania. All outcomes are good, for once.

Prediction: Bobby Roode defeats Randy Orton to retain the United States Championship

AJ Styles (c) vs. John Cena vs. Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Baron Corbin for the WWE Championship

And unlike the United States Championship match, this match scares the life out of me. When Nakamura won the Royal Rumble I was ecstatic that we’d be getting Styles/Nakamura for the WWE Championship. Then a triple threat match became a fatal-four way, then a fatal-five way and what is now a six-pack challenge for the championship, putting that dream match in jeopardy. From all the speculation I’ve heard the only thing I would be remotely okay with is seeing Dolph Ziggler come out victorious. If there’s anyone who deserves a major moment it is Ziggler. Plus the possibility of a Styles/Nakamura/Ziggler match at Wrestlemania wouldn’t be all that disappointing.

I’m still hoping WWE sends AJ into Mania with a huge win over all these guys, giving him his much deserved Wrestlemania moment against Nakamura.

Prediction: AJ Styles retains the WWE Championship
