Hump Day Thoughts On Sports – 6/12/13

Hey people – Steve here with some thoughts on this 2nd hump day of June.

I cannot wait for Dexter to start up again at the end of this month. It will be the end of the road for a ridiculously good series. I have followed by buddy Dexter from the beginning. It is odd to root for a serial killer, but that is what we do when we watch Dexter every week. I even watched the last 5 episodes of season 4 with a buddy of mine a few months back. I still can’t believe what happened. I won’t repeat it here because some people will still want to catch up to Dexter and I remember how it was spoiled for me on Facebook.

* Note to self – never “like” the fan page of a show if you are not caught up. Bad things will happen.

Speaking of shows to catch up to. I’m in serious need of catching up with Game of Thrones. Now before you start yelling and throwing things at your computer/iPhone/iPad screen, the reason for my lagging behind is simple. My wife was holding me back. There, I said it! She was. She has told me that I am free to watch it on my own and watch it I will!

Folks, I’m sorry to say this and I’m sure I’m not the first, but the Miami Heat are in some trouble. They gave their best punch in game 2 and the Spurs came right back with a solid roundhouse of their own last night. I will not say the series is over, but as I said on our podcast tonight, I think the series will finish with either a Spurs victory in 6 or a Heat victory in 7. It is REALLY hard to imagine anyone besides the Heat winning the NBA title. There will be a TON of questions that will need to be answered if they do not win it all. It will make for a long off-season for the Heat and their fans. Still PLENTY of basketball to go though.

My Mets are just terrible. I like the plan moving forward though. My main issue is that a solid plan to move forward in baseball is about the weakest solid plan you can have in all of sports. Will your prospects pan out? Will they get hurt and never live up to expectations? Will you be able to spend money? That last one should NEVER be a question when you are playing in New York, but for the last 3 seasons, it certainly has been. I’ve rooted for the Mets through their abysmal 59-103 season in 1993 and I will continue to root them on this season. 3-8 against the Marlins?? REALLY!! Ugh.

The Human Centipede 2

I watched the Human Centipede several years ago on a slow day at work. I started to watch it because it was a slow day and because I just wanted to see what it was all about. I got sucked into it and I finished it and I was appalled at what I just watched. While I was searching through Netflix the other day, I happened upon The Human Centipede 2. I will keep that one in my back pocket for a rainy day.

We had the great opportunity last week to attend a screening for Man of Steel. While Scotty and I both loved it (and so did the rest of the theater) there is this craziness happening over at Rotten Tomatoes. Man of Steel is currently at 62%. Once a movie falls below 60% on Rotten Tomatoes, it is certified ROTTEN. What is wrong with these people? Too much action? Are you BLEEPING kidding me?? Absurd. See for yourself. You will NOT be disappointed. Oh and you can check out our reviews here:

Steve’s Man of Steel Review

Before Man of Steel comes out, you should really check out This is the End. Funny. Hilarious. Inappropriate. Vulgar. Loved it.

That’s all I’ve got this week. Have a great weekend and enjoy the movies!
