Baby Driver

A talented, young getaway driver (Ansel Elgort) relies on the beat of his personal soundtrack to be the best in the game. But after being coerced into working for a crime boss (Kevin Spacey), he must face the music when a doomed heist threatens his life, love and freedom.

Scott’s Take

Full Disclaimer. I LIKED Baby Driver, I just didn’t love it. Baby was humming along quite nicely until (Spoiler Alert) Jon Hamm’s character turned into the Wiley Coyote during the film’s final act. Definitely respect the originality, but I had some problems with Edgar Wright’s latest. (3 stars out of 5 stars)

Steve’s Take

I really enjoyed Baby Driver. I had a lot of fun throughout and the score was on point. This one is a must pick up for me. Final word for me on this one is 4 out of 5 stars.

The Beguiled

“The Beguiled” is an atmospheric thriller from acclaimed writer/director Sofia Coppola. The story unfolds during the Civil War, at a Southern girls’ boarding school. Its sheltered young women take in an injured enemy soldier. As they provide refuge and tend to his wounds, the house is taken over with sexual tension and dangerous rivalries, and taboos are broken in an unexpected turn of events.

Scott’s Take

The Beguiled intrigues me mostly because of Sofia Coppola. Does she have another Lost in Translation in her? I hope so.

Steve’s Take

I have zero interest in this one, but for you I will.

The House

Andrew J. Cohen directs this romp about a mother and father (Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler) who blow their daughter’s college fund and start an illegal casino in their basement to recoup the losses.

Scott’s Take

I had zero interest in seeing The House. Now that it’s on Blu, I will give it a shot but Will Ferrell’s 15 minutes are almost up. Tick Tock.

Steve’s Take

For me, Will Ferrell’s 15 minutes have been up for a bit. I’ll check it out until I can’t stand it anymore.

Next Week

My pick of there week is Baby Driver because it’s so original and I haven’t seen the other films. Next week, Ralph’s favorite film of all time Spider-Man: Homecoming hits shelves along with the hysterical Girls Trip. Have a great week everyone.
