Power Rangers

A group of high-school kids, who are infused with unique superpowers, harness their abilities in order to save the world.

Scott’s Take

No thank you. I never watched the show, so I am not the demographic this film is targeting. But don’t worry, I won’t hate you if you do want to check this one out.

Steve’s Take

I vaguely remember watching the show as a kid. I know plenty of people that were very excited for this one and thought it was just fine. Its performance in China might have closed the door on a sequel, but I guess we should never say never.

T2 Trainspotting

First there was an opportunity……then there was a betrayal. Twenty years have gone by. Much has changed but just as much remains the same. Mark Renton returns to the only place he can ever call home. They are waiting for him: Spud, Sick Boy, and Begbie. Other old friends are waiting too: sorrow, loss, joy, vengeance, hatred, friendship, love, longing, fear, regret, diamorphine, self-destruction and mortal danger, they are all lined up to welcome him, ready to join the dance.

Scott’s Take

I LOVED Trainspotting. It’s actually kind of crazy that I haven’t seen part two, it just seems like too much time has passed. I will check this one out this week.

Steve’s Take

It’s been so long since the original that I wasn’t all that excited for this one. That won’t stop me from checking it out some time this week.

Chips

Dax Shepard (Hit & Run, TV’s Parenthood) and Michael Peña (Ant-Man) star in the action comedy CHIPS, directed by Shepard from his own script. Jon Baker (Shepard) and Frank Ponch Poncherello (Peña) have just joined the California Highway Patrol (CHP) in Los Angeles, but for very different reasons. Baker is a beaten-up former pro motorbiker trying to put his life and marriage back together. Poncherello is a cocky undercover Federal agent investigating a multi-million dollar heist that may be an inside job–inside the CHP. The inexperienced rookie and the hardened pro are teamed together, but clash more than click, so kick-starting a real partnership is easier said than done. But with Baker’s unique bike skills and Ponch’s street savvy it might just work…if they don’t drive each other crazy first.

Scott’s Take

I hated, hated, hated Chips. It’s a joyless, soulless waste of time. Don’t even Redbox this one.

The Belko Experiment

In a twisted social experiment, a group of 80 Americans are locked in their high-rise corporate office in Bogota, Colombia and ordered by an unknown voice coming from the company’s intercom system to participate in a deadly game of kill or be killed.

Scott’s Take

Here is an interesting premise that falters execution wise. It’s OK for a rainy night/B-Movie, but don’t expect too much.

Next Week

I don’t have a pick of the week as I don’t particularly like any of the films hitting shelves. Next week we have The Zookeeper’s Wife and Song to Song. Have a great week everyone.
