Ralph Takes A Look At Heat vs Clippers

After a disappointing home-stand, the Miami Heat (3-5) travel to the the Los Angeles Clippers (5-3) for the second of a six game road trip. The Heat lost on Friday night in Denver 95-94 to start the road trip.

The Clippers close a five game homestand this afternoon and look to finish 2-3. It started with losses to the Pistons and the Warriors. The only win they have on the homestand is against the Mavericks.

Despite the loss of Chris Paul via trade in the off-season, the Clippers are still a contender in the West. The talents of Blake Griffin and Deandre Jordan in the 4 and 5 spots make the difficult to deal with. Rebounding and post points come easy to this team, so look for the Clippers to hit Hassan Whiteside and Kelly Olynyk hard in the paint. For the Clippers to win, they have to have the advantage in paint points and rebounds. If not, then Miami should win fairly easily.

Despite having a defensive identity (according to Coach Spo), the Heat live and die on the three point shot. They shot it well against Denver despite the close loss, and shot over 50% in wins over Indiana and Atlanta. Hassan Whiteside is back from his knee bruise, and despite being limited to 26-28 minutes, is essential for today. Rebounding is a must against the Clippers, and Whiteside is the best in the league.

My prediction: Heat win 108-105

Steve’s prediction: Clippers 105 Heat 97

Gilberto’s prediction: Clippers 100 Heat 95
