Here are some stats that blew me away from the current MLB season as games completed August 15, 2015:
The Chicago Cubs have the third best record in all of baseball, yet are third in their division and playing for a wildcard.
The New York Mets have a 4.5 game lead on the Washington Nationals in the NL East.
Four teams are .500 or better in the AL East, and none of them are the Boston Red Sox.
The Oakland Athletics are 16 games below .500, but are a +21 in run differential.
The Houston Astros are 6 games away from tying their win total from last season.
The Phillies have more wins on turf (1) than everyone in the NL Central and West combined (0).
The Pirates are just one game above .500 on the road, but 21 games above .500 at home. They will not have home field advantage first round.
The Rangers are one game above .500 and have been outscored by 32 runs. The Diamondbacks are one game below .500 and have outscored their opponents by 30 runs.
And there you have it.
