Sportznutt’s Best Bets and the Rest.

Week 4 is upon us, and I thought I’d look into the financial side of football and see if I can offer my opinions on the games. I’ll be going by the lines at Pinnacle Sports which were updated on Saturday September 27, 2014 at 12:44:47 PM EST. They can be found here!

Note, I am not sponsoring this site in any way, or I am not saying that these outcomes will actually happen. These are my predictions, and I used this site as it was easy to read and follow. So if I am sponsoring anything, it’s the website’s layout. In brackets after my prediction will be a number in between 0-10, indicating the level of confidence I have in that outcome, with 10 being in the highest. Anyways, here goes:

Miami Dolphins (-3.5) vs Oakland Raiders (in England)

Oakland deserved better last week, and probably should have won. Miami is a mess offensively, and it’ll be interesting to see if this QB controversy works itself out or continues. Games in England are tough to call, because both teams are the visiting team. I’ll say Oakland covers and even wins outright, but I’m not sure.

Sportznutt Selects: Oakland +3.5 (3)

Green Bay Packers (-1) @ Chicago Bears

What in the world has Green bay done to be considered a favorite? They have been atrocious away from Lambeau and struggled to beat the Jets. Perhaps the line represents a potential lag in a home return after a long road trip? Chicago should be relatively healthy, but losing Marshall would be big.

Sportznutt Selects: Chicago +1 (6)

Buffalo Bills @ Houston Texans (-3)

The Bills are playing well, despite last week’s loss. This is a game that they must win if they have any shot of doing anything. If EJ Manuel will have a day to prove that he is the future, then this should be it. Houston will rely heavily on the running game with either Foster or Blue, and either should fit the bill well. I forsee a low scoring game.

Sportznutt Selects: Houston -3 (6)

Tennessee Titans @ Indianpolis Colts (-7.5)

If Locker can’t play, we will see Checkdown Charlie play for the Titans, who might need a career day from its running backs. The Colts spanked the Jags last week and return home for another offensive onslaught and should, quite easily, beat Tennessee, regardless of who plays at QB.

Sportznutt Selects: Indianapolis -7.5 (8)

Carolina Panthers @ Baltimore Ravens (-3.5)

This is a huge test for Carolina to prove that their defense is no push over. They got manhandled last week, but should bounce back. The Cam Newton to Kelvin Benjamin connection has looked good and should strengthen throughout the season. Expect the Ravens to go pass happy as their running game should fail.

Sportznutt Selects: Carolina +3.5 (8)

Detroit Lions (-1) @ New York Jets

I will say this: the Jets’ offense surprised me last week, which says a lot to how bad I think they are. The Lions should stop them for the most part, but this is a much different Detroit team away from home. Still, it’s only 1 point and practically a pick’em

Sportznutt Selects: Detroit -1 (9)

Tampa Bay Bucaneers @ Pittsburgh Steelers (-7.5)

The Bucs have had 10 days to think about the worst performance ever on Thursday Night Football. That beings said, they should be better, and they have Doug Martin at 100%…..or so he says. Still, how will they score points?

Sportznutt Selects: Pittsburgh -7.5 (7)

Jacksonville Jaguars @ San Diego Chargers (-13)

I hate taking teams who are favored for more than a touchdown, much less those at almost two touchdowns. However, the Jaguars have been just plain awful, and haven’t done anything to steer me away from not taking them. The Chargers are for real, and the Jags have a rookie starting at QB.

Sportznutt Selects: San Diego -13 (5)

Philadelphia Eagles @ San Francisco 49ers (-5)

The Eagles are the kings at coming from behind, while the Niners have shot themselves in the foot in the second half every week. Seems like a recipe for déjà vu, doesn’t it? I think this will be a shoot out, but the 49ers need to show some discipline if they’re going to win. The Eagles may cause them to take more stupid penalties with this hurry up offense.

Sportznutt Selects: Philadelphia +5 (4)

Atlanta Falcons (-3) @ Minnesota Vikings

I’m guessing it’s the inconsistency of the Falcons’ defense that makes this at only 3 points. I see this being a blow out. Easily.

Sportznutt Selects: Atlanta -3 (10)

New Orleans Saints (-3) @ Dallas Cowboys

Which Saints team will we see this week? They looked average at home, which worries me. Eventually this team will catch fire, but who knows about this week. Dallas might ride momentum and rally. Then again they might not. I see them winning as New Orleans hasn’t been great. Prove me wrong.

Sportznutt Selects: Dallas +3 (6)

New England Patriots (-3) @ Kansas City Chiefs

If this were on Sunday at 1:00PM EST, my opinion might be different, but this is Monday Night, and the Pats always play well.

Sportznutt Selects: New England -3 (9)

 And there you have it.
