Welcome back to the weekly Top 10 list. Each week we come up with a topic, go create our separate lists, and then come together to create a top 10 consensus. This week with Mission Impossible: Fallout coming out, we decided there was no better time to do Top 10 Tom Cruise Movies. Tom Cruise is a Hollywood legend with many great films, so this was an incredibly difficult list. So, without further delay, here we go!

10. Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol

Starting off the list is a little one, two punch of Tom Cruise’s biggest franchise. Ghost Protocol is the fourth film in the Mission Impossible franchise and it really launched the franchise into a new level. Ghost Protocol saw Tom Cruise climb the side of the tallest building in the world and the opening prison break sequence is fantastic. This is a terrific movie that was topped by…

9. Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation

In at number nine is the follow-up to Ghost Protocol in Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation. Rogue Nation took what was great about Ghost Protocol and elevated it tremendously. The opening sequence sees Tom Cruise hanging off the side of a plane. That is such a commitment from one person to bring us the best product. We also met Rebecca Ferguson in this film who people now want a movie centered on. This is the franchise’s best and if Fallout is better, it may be a perfect film.

8. A Few Good Men

At the number eight spot we have a military/courtroom drama in A Few Good Men. A Few Good Men is a film that follows a lawyer who is defending marines accused of murder who say they were acting under orders. This is a great film that was nominated for four Oscars including best picture and rightfully so. Tom Cruise plays Daniel Kaffee and really helps to carry the film.

7. Born on the Fourth of July

Coming in at number seven is another military film in Born on the Fourth of July. This is such a compelling story where we see Ron Kovic who becomes paralyzed during the Vietnam War and it changes his life forever. This is one of Tom Cruise’s best performances where he was even nominated for the role. He does such a great job at being someone who felt betrayed by his country and the story will grab you every time.

6. Collateral

Just missing out of the top five is Michael Mann’s Collateral. Collateral is a movie that is gripping from start to finish. We follow the story of a cab driver who gets held hostage from a contract killer who forces him to take him from hit to hit. This is one of those movies where you wonder what you would do in that situation. Jamie Foxx and Tom Cruise have great chemistry in this film and is a film that a couple of our members had at number one.

5. Edge of Tomorrow

Starting off the top five is one of Tom Cruise’s more recent films in Edge of Tomorrow. This film was such a surprise in that no one expected anything of this. Here we see a story that was like Groundhog Day but with an alien was going on and every time Tom Cruise dies, the day resets. Cruise and Emily Blunt work so well together and now we have a sequel on the way that I hope can be as good or better than the original.

4. Jerry Maguire

In at number four we have one of Cruise’s most personal movies in Jerry Maguire. Jerry Maguire is one the first Tom Cruise movies I ever saw which is weird considering all the action movies he has done. Here Cruise plays a sports agent who has a situation that leads him to only have one client left. This is a movie for people who enjoy romance, drama, sports, and Tom Cruise and that is what makes Jerry Maguire so great. For years I thought Jerry Maguire was an actual person and that’s how well Cruise played the character.

3. Minority Report

Coming in at number three we have Minority Report. This film was number one on many of our staff’s lists and rightfully so because this is a fantastic film. It introduces the question of if you knew someone would commit a crime, would you stop them or let it happen? Tom Cruise worked with Steven Spielberg here who is one of the many iconic directors Cruise has gotten to work with. They made a fun, yet dark sci-fi thriller and Minority Report will always carry that feeling.

2. Rain Man

Just missing out on the top spot is the classic Rain Man. Rain Man is a special film that expands outside of the movie circle. People who have never seen the film still reference it in everyday life and that is a testament to how iconic the movie is. Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman have such terrific chemistry here and watching their relationship go through trials and tribulations is great to watch. This was also nominated for many awards and is a film that has lived on through generations.

1. Top Gun

Coming in at the number one spot on our list is Top Gun. Everybody who knows movies has heard of Top Gun and knows its significance in movies today. This film is really the birth of Tom Cruise. When you think of him, this is the movie you think of. Top Gun is such a goofy film but in the best way possible that I think no other film can replicate. This is a product of the 80’s that still impacts to today and Cruise will always be remembered as Maverick. I cannot wait for the sequel next year.

Well there you have it! The Top 10 Best Tom Cruise Films of all time. Tom Cruise is the biggest movie star of all time and his legacy is still going on today. What does your list look like? Also, special shout out to Tropic Thunder for giving us Tom Cruise’s best performance as Les Grossman, I laugh every time. Anyways, we will see you next week with a new addition of the Top 1
