Hey everyone. Steve here.
We received word today that we are going to get TOY STORY 4. John Lasseter is going to be the director and it will mark the first time he has directed a film in the series since the original. This news is being met with mixed feelings. There are those that are excited, but then there are some that are scared that Pixar is taking this series one film too far. Most people felt as though Toy Story 3 was the perfect ending and it also felt like the end for the relationship between Andy and his toys. Lasseter said that the characters in the series are far too important to the creators to take them in the wrong direction. He acknowledged that Toy Story 3 “ended Woody and Buzz’s story with Andy so perfectly that for a long time, we never even talked about doing another Toy Story movie. But when Andrew, Pete, Lee and I came up with this new idea, I just could not stop thinking about it. It was so exciting to me, I knew we had to make this movie — and I wanted to direct it myself.”
I am in the same boat as most people. I am concerned with this series being taken too far. No matter what happens, the kids will still love their friends from Toy Story. Those that are excited will have to wait until 2017.
