Hey all, Steve here. We all knew there would be a new King of the Box Office this weekend, but I don’t know that many of us thought that it would be an epic ass-kicking. There is a lot to get to, so I’m going to get right to it.

1. Deadpool

This Weekend – $135.1 million

Total – $135.1 million

Deadpool is the new Box Office Champ and I bet he would love hearing those words. Not only did Deadpool finish in first place, but he shattered some records:

February Opening Weekend

Previous record – $45 million – Fifty Shades of Grey

New record set by Deadpool – $135.1 million

Largest opening for an R-rated film

Previous record – $91.7 million – The Matrix Reloaded

New record set by Deadpool – $135.1 million

Largest opening weekend for an R-rated comic book adaptation

Previous record – $70.8 million – 300

New record set by Deadpool – $135.1 million

2. Kung Fu Panda 3

This Weekend – $19.7 million

Total – $93.9 million

Major drop-off here, but at least there was some alternate programming out there for kids since Deadpool was rated R.

3. How to Be Single

This Weekend – $18.8 million

Total – $18.8 million

Not a terrible opening, but hindsight being 20/20, they probably should have pushed this one up a bit.

4. Zoolander 2

This Weekend – $15.7 million

Total – $15.7 million

I think we all got excited when this one was announced. The problem is that it’s been 15 years and most of what Zoolander brings to the table now just doesn’t hold up.

5. The Revenant

This Weekend – $6.9million

Total – $159.2 million

It’s been 8 weeks in the top 5 for this bad boy. Let’s keep it going! #OscarForLeo

That’s all for this weekend! There is no real competition next weekend, so we might just see the same top 5! Happy Valentine’s Day and enjoy your week!
