Hey all – Steve here. Weekend Box Office time. We won’t be crowning a new champ today, but one of the new flicks on the list had a nice debut. Oh, and CHIPS made it’s debut at number 7 with $7.6 million. Well deserved. Alright, let’s get to it!

1. Beauty and the Beast

Budget – $160 million

This Weekend – $88.3 million

Total – $317 million

Holy crap! This one has just about doubled its budget and is still the talk of the town. Not much more to say about this one, but if you haven’t seen this one yet then you need to just drop what you’re doing and head out. This one makes for an especially nice mother/daughter date.

2. Power Rangers

Budget – $100 million

This Weekend – $40.5 million

Total – $40.5 million

Nice debut for this one. I guess I wasn’t sure of how popular this one was going to be until you crashed the site when we put the contest up. From what I have heard, it was a success when it comes to the people that used to watch the show religiously.

3. Kong: Skull Island

Budget – $185 million

This Weekend – $14.4 million

Total – $133.5 million

I’ve seen this one twice now and it’s just so much fun to watch. It will be interesting to see if it gets to its budget domestically. It really should, but it cost so much to make.

4. Life

Budget – $58 million

This Weekend – $12.6 million

Total – $12.6 million

I missed the screening for this one because I got stuck watching CHIPS, but I will be checking this one out just as soon as I can.

5. Logan

Budget – $97 million

This Weekend – $10.1 million

Total – $201.5 million

4 weeks in and this one still remains in the top 5. It’s a great film and might just remain in the top 5 come next week.

That’s all for this weekend. Next week we get The Boss Baby and Ghost in the Shell going wide and The Zookeepers’w Wife on a limited release. Have a great week!
