Hey all – Steve here. It’s Box Office time and we’ve got ourselves a back to back champ. You might want to say that the number 1 movie over the weekend was GUARDING its top spot from a week ago. We’ve also got 2 new entries into the Top 5, one of which was a massive bomb in its opening weekend. Let’s get to it!

1. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Budget – $200 million

This Weekend – $63 million

Total – $246.2 million

Guarding its top spot this weekend is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. You see what I did there…I don’t have to point it out for you. This is a great flick and if you haven’t seen it yet then there is something seriously wrong with you. Handle that this week or next weekend. Don’t make me say it again.

2. Snatched

Budget – $42 million

This Weekend – $12.5 million

Total – $17.5 million

Not my cup of tea as this one looks like a really unfunny comedy. I haven’t seen it and I likely won’t see it any time soon, but here is Ralph’s review of this nonsense.

3. King Arthur: Legend of the Sword

Budget – $175

This Weekend – $14.7 million

Total – $14.7 million

Now on to this one. The bomb of the weekend. To spend $175 million on your budget and only get $14 million domestically on opening weekend is just a disaster. Warner Bros…step it up! Hopefully for them that starts with Everything, Everything next weekend. Here is Gilberto’s review…he actually kind of liked it. This might be an area of opportunity for him on his mid-year review.

4. The Fate of the Furious

Budget – $250 million

This Weekend – $5.3 million

Total – $215 million

Nothing more I can say about this one. Check it out in one of those dollar theaters now if they still exist. Or, wait for it on Bluray although there is no release date just yet. Well, just go see it if you haven’t already. Geez.

5. The Boss Baby

Budget – Undisclosed

This Weekend – $4.6 million

Total – $162.4 million

Well, for the 7th straight week, this bad boy is in the top 5. Nice little run and its brought in a nice little bit of coin.

That’s all for this weekend, people. Next weekend we have Alien: Covenant, Everything, Everything and Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul. Have a great week!
