Hey all, Steve here. We had 4 new flicks go wide at theaters this weekend and 3 of them made it into the Top 5. The question of the hour has to be if any of them were good enough to dethrone Wonder Woman. Here we go!

1. Cars 3

Budget – $125 million

This Weekend – $53.5 million

Domestic Total – $53.5 million

Worldwide Total – $74.8 million

I haven’t had a chance to see it yet, but seeing as though it is doing pretty well on Rotten Tomatoes and it is the one that took down Wonder Woman, I’d say it might be a safe bet that I will be seeing it with my son soon. He hasn’t really been into the Cars franchise, but he has mentioned it several times. Just in case you missed his review, here is what Ralph had to say about Cars 3.

2. Wonder Woman

Budget – $149 million

This Weekend – $40.8 million

Domestic Total – $274.6 million

Worldwide Total – $571.8 million

There really isn’t much more to say about Wonder Woman other than – holy crap it is up to over $570 million worldwide. That is pretty damn wonderful.

3. All Eyez On Me

Budget – $45 million

This Weekend – $27.1 million

Domestic Total – $27.1 million

Worldwide Total – $27.1 million

Listen, we all get the hype for this one and that is part of the problem. I think Nardo captured it in the first line of her review when she said bio-flicks are pretty damn tough to do in a way that everyone will enjoy. I said a week ago that this one would be one that would be sitting at a 35% critic score and a 75% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. I was close as this one is currently sitting at 24% critic and 70% audience. People that love Tupac (that are not critics) are going to blindly enjoy it and that is what has led to the 70% audience rating. Here is Nardo’s review of this one.

4. The Mummy

Budget – $125 million

This Weekend – $13.9 million

Domestic Total – $56.5 million

Worldwide Total – $295.6 million

This one is clearly lopsided in favor of foreign total. You know that can only mean one thing – we are finally right about something in this country! This one is white hot garbage and I haven’t even seen it yet. Why would I torture myself like that? I have already seen such bombs as The Bye Bye Man, Rings and Chips this year. I might have to do it once it hits bluray in a week or two, but I won’t see it before I absolutely need to.

5. 47 Meters Down

Budget – Undisclosed

This Weekend – $11.5 million

Domestic Total – $11.5 million

Worldwide Total – $11.5 million

I saw this one last week and while it wasn’t great, it wasn’t awful either. If you are going to see it, you should go into it thinking B shark movie. That is all. Don’t get your expectations get too high because of the trailer. It will take your breath away at times and it is only 89 minutes long so you are not wasting much of your time even if you hate it.

That’s all for this weekend people. Next week we yet another Transformers that will probably be horrible, yet make tons of money. That’s just how life is. Have a great week everyone!
