Welcome back to the Top 10! Every week we come up with a topic, create our separate lists, and come together to create the consensus CST Top 10. This week with the new year beginning, we decided to do Top 10 most anticipated movies of 2018. There are many great films to look forward to this year so here we go with our lists.

10. Sicario 2: Soldado

Starting off our list is the sequel to the 2015 hit Sicario, Sicario 2: Soldado. Now there are definitely some questions going into this with director Denis Villeneuve and star Emily Blunt not returning. However, we do have Benicio Del Toro, Josh Brolin, and writer Taylor Sheridan returning. If this film could even come close to the original, it could be fantastic.

9. Venom

Venom movie poster by Deryl Braun. Hey, there is no official poster, so this is what we’ve got!

At number nine we have Sony’s attempt at a shared universe with their first film in Venom. People are certainly divided on this one because people think this can’t work without Spiderman in it. This does however have an impressive cast with Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Jenny Slate, and Woody Harrelson joining the cast. We are all anxious to see if this film turns out to be great.

8. The Irishman

Coming in at number eight we have Scorsese’s latest in The Irishman. This film will star Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Harvey Keitel, and Joe Pesci. How can you not be anticipating this film, especially since this will be on Netflix so we can all watch it at home. Scorsese rarely fails, and we are excited to see his next attempt at a masterpiece.

7. Incredibles 2

At number seven we have another sequel in The Incredibles 2. People have been waiting for this for 14 years and are finally getting it. The entire cast is returning, and the film is hoping to bring back its older audience along with a new audience to make a successful movie. Look out for this to have a huge run once it releases this summer.

6. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

Just missing the top five is Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. The sequel to one of the most successful movies of all time is giving another attempt to match the magic of the original Jurassic Park. People did not like the trailer, but who doesn’t want to see dinosaurs on the big screen? I can’t wait to see a T-Rex on screen again.

5. Solo: A Star Wars Story

Starting off the top five we have the next entry in the most successful franchise of all time, Star Wars. Here we get a spinoff film where we get to see the beginnings of Han Solo and how he became who he is. This production has had tons of controversy, but at the same time we can trust Ron Howard. The first trailer is going to be huge in determining if the film will be successful or not.

4. Ready Player One

At number four we have Ready Player One. This is Steven Spielberg’s latest film about a virtual reality world where you can be anything you want. This has nostalgia written all over it and I can not wait to see what this story is. People love the book this movie is based off of, and the trailers have just grabbed everyone.

3. Deadpool 2

Coming in at number two is Deadpool 2. Boy are we excited for this marketing campaign coming up. The first Deadpool was such a surprise that turned into this phenomenon. People were not really aware of the character and now he is as popular as any other superhero. Hopefully the sequel can live up to the magic of the original and deliver the same amount of jokes and story the original gave us.

2. Black Panther

At number two we have the first of Marvel’s three films slated to come out this year in Black Panther. This movie just looks fantastic from everything we’ve seen. With a director in Ryan Coogler coming in and a star in Chadwick Boseman, this film is shaping up to have the same impact Wonder Woman did in 2017. This will be a historic film and we are very excited.

1. Avengers: Infinity War

Did you expect anything else? Of course, this is our number one most anticipated movie. When Avengers took over the world back in 2012, people got to love these characters. Now we get to see the culmination of all the Marvel movies since 2008’s Iron Man and can’t wait. We will get to see the Avengers team up with Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Antman, Spiderman, and the Guardians of the Galaxy. What more could you ask for?

So, there you have it, the Top 10 most anticipated movies of 2018. What are we missing? What are you excited for? Why isn’t Antman and the Wasp on here? Jump into the comments and let us know. See you next week for another addition of the Top 10.
