Hump Day Thoughts on Sports – 6/27/12

No funny business this week – let’s get right to it:

The Miami Heat are the NBA Champions. That is the sentence that most of the country never wanted to read and have many readers of this column cringing right now. The one thing that the haters of the heat had to hold on to was that they haven’t won a championship yet and that Lebron couldn’t close out a series. Well, he didn’t need to take a game winning shot in the playoffs because he DOMINATED the entire playoffs. The King has been crowned and Wade gets his second ring. The one thing that bothers me now is that Eddy Curry now has a ring. That just isn’t right! Congrats again to the Heat and their fans!

Amar’e Stoudemire is a moron. He has 679,000 followers on Twitter and isn’t smart enough to stay away from saying certain things. I know it is easier said than done seeing as though we have just short of 400 followers, but you need to be smarter than that! Let fans say what they want to say and move on! There is no room for any kind of slurring on Twitter (unless it’s just plain drunk slurring) Can someone please show him the block button…

What’s the deal with the new Walmart commercial with the lady that has worked there for 50 years? I wonder how much she makes? She must be a greeter, no?

Jerry Sandusky is officially a guilty man…finally. Good riddance.

So, the Yankees got some really bad news today. Andy Pettitte will be out for around 6 weeks and Sabathia will be out until after the All-Star break. The Yankees can score with anyone, but it makes things much more difficult when 40% of your starting rotation is hurt.

Back to the NBA – free agency begins on 7/1 and already there are rumors of where certain players are going. Ray Allen to the Heat? Wow. Lamar Odom to the Knicks? That’s where he wants to be, but do the Knicks get Laker Odom or Mavs Odom? Will DWill end up with the Nets or the Mavs? Seems as though Mark Cuban is a bit concerned he won’t get his man. No matter what happens, teams will ultimately need to figure out a way to beat the Heat.

The Youkster was traded from the Red to White Sox. Have you heard the Republicans blasting President Obama for “sticking it to the Boston fans” as he poked fun at the Boston crowd that Youk was traded to his White Sox? Give me a break and get back to the issues at hand! Nothing to see here…

On one final note – Give credit to Coach Spo for “staying the course”…

That’s about all for this week! Hope your hump day is going well and that you’re on your way to an enjoyable weekend! If I missed something or if you’d like to battle it out on something you didn’t agree with feel free to leave a comment!

Talk to you guys next hump day!
