The Sportz Nutt Breaks Down Week 2 In The NFL

Share Button
We have made it through one week of football, and already it’s shaping up to be a tremendous year. Aaron Rodgers engineered one of the greatest performances of all-time, the Browns had their best game 1 performance since 2004, we some some Fitz-magic and we had the longest game ever. It was quite a week, but we move onto Week 2……

Top 3 Games of the Week:

3 – Kansas City at Pittsburgh

The Chiefs surprised me last week, in how good they came out and demolished the Chargers. Watch out for Tyreke Hill, who dominates on the road. Big Ben is also a much better home player, so this could be a shootout.

2 – New England at Jacksonville

Both teams won last week, and rightfully so. That said, it’s a battle of the league’s best QB vs the league’s best defense. Id bet on the home team here, despite Fournette’s injury.

1 – New York Giants at Cowboys

I’m not sold on the Cowboys being as good as others think, but they’ll be at home and playing on Sunday night, where they usually do well. This should be a close one and should provide some excitement in a close game.

Game of the Weak:

Miami at New York Jets

Don’t let last week fool you….these teams aren’t going to win 10 games. That said, the winner of this will be 2-0 with the potential of being atop the AFC East.

Do or Die:

Pittsburgh, Atlanta and New Orleans….all teams with postseason aspirations, cannot afford to go 0-2 to start the season. It’s not like they can’t get out of that hole, but it’s on the path to being 0-3 which is almost a death sentence.

Upset of the Week:

I don’t really see much here in terms of an upset, because the games are either really close or the favorite is who I would pick. If I had to choose one of the games, I would say the Chiefs will walk out of Pittsburgh with a win. I’m going to be rolling with my homies (Mahomes) and suggest that he continues to be a stud. That said, Big Ben could come out and put up 40 on a Chiefs defense that surrendered a ton of points and yards to the Chargers last week.

Lock of the Week:

The Rams are going to beat up my lowly Cardinals. It would take 7 four leaf clovers for the Cardinals to win at the Rams. The difference between both teams is ridiculously large, and it’s on both sides of the ball. Offensively, the Rams are clicking on all cylinders with 3 viable weapons in the passing game, and not to mention Todd Gurley. Defensively, LA has arguably the best defense in the league and should manhandle the Cardinals. I could see Bradford hurt for awhile after this game.

And there you have it.
